Overview
Rudino is a ginger and almond liqueur created by Rudi, the owner of Circolo degli Alpini. The product is defined by its unique contrast: “smooth yet scratchy.” This duality inspired the choice of a cat as the brand mascot—an animal that perfectly embodies elegance and unpredictability.
Starting from a stylized geometric head, I developed a comprehensive system of icons. By subtly tweaking the eyes and mouth, each icon gains a unique personality, transforming a static logo into a living character.
This concept led to a dynamic packaging strategy: a series of 10 distinct labels, identical in layout but different in their “cat expression.” This design invites consumers to interact with the brand, challenging them to find the face that best represents their mood or to collect them all.
“Beyond the main logo, I wanted to create a true visual language. Starting from the same rigorous geometric base, I developed a system of variations where a simple shift in the eyes or mouth changes the entire narrative.
From a grumpy stare to a playful wink, these icons turn a static brand into a living character with multiple personalities, ready to jump from the bottle onto pins, stickers, and apparel.”
“The liqueur itself—a blend of soft almond and spicy ginger—defined the design strategy. I translated this “smooth yet scratchy” duality into a reversible “playing card” layout, where two opposing natures coexist in the same space.
To deepen the engagement, I designed ten distinctive labels: same layout, different personalities. It’s an invitation for the consumer to explore, collect, and ultimately choose the face that matches their mood.”
“Thinking beyond the bottle. I envisioned Rudino not just as a product to taste, but as a brand to experience. The graphic flexibility allows the geometric cat to travel effortlessly from the bar shelf to the street, proving that a strong logo has no boundaries.”
“It’s all in the details, and even the smallest touchpoint is an opportunity for branding. From custom hangtags to patterned shoppers, every accessory reinforces the visual identity, turning a simple purchase into a premium experience.”
